Finally a Turkey Day Game that I'm excited for!
Woooowhoo! Lions hosting the Dolphins this year on Thanksgiving Day! Two years ago it was the Colts and last year it was the Falcons, both horrid games. But finally we got a team that didn't have a super season the year before. I know that doesn't mean anything in these times in the NFL, but come on... the Dolphins :)

DeVries will Remain a Lion
Good! Ha, not much to say... wish I had some reports of really good free agent pick ups, but the Detroit Lions have kinda been quiet still. Which I do not like.

So long Joey
Looks like we finally parted ways with Joey. I'll admit that I liked the guy, had my ups and downs with him, but in the end... he just couldn't get the job done.
I think he would be a good fit for KC. I would even go out on a limb and say he will be a successful NFL QB where ever he lands.
This may actually kill all the media buzz that the Lions get concerning their QBs... which is good!
The only thing I really don’t like about this is what Mr. big shot CEO and our new head coach said about Joey. Them saying ‘well what do you think’ and ‘we like him’ and ‘we have our starter’ this kind of crap pisses me off. Already lying to us.

Well... we have three really average QBs.
Looks like we are going to pick up Josh McCown from Arizona. If you asked me to pick a player from Arizona it would probably be Kurt but, honestly McCown would be right behind him. However, taking a QB from a crappy team really doesn't make me very excited.

Tentative agreement with Jon Kitna
I like this guy. He is kinda old (33 years) but he is a solid QB.
A couple years with the Lions would be good for the club. He won't win the game for us, but I don't think he will loose it either. His INTs are a little high, but so is his career completion PCT. I think this guy is a good back up.
Corey Bradford.... 3rd teams a charm?
Everybody join me in welcoming Corey Bradford.
Detroit signed the 8 year WR, adding some more depth and experience to our already densely talented skill area. He played for Green Bay for 4 years and then Houston for 4 years.... so with Farve and Carr throwing to him, he had 25 TDs in 8 years; this is not that free agent splash I was talking about guys. His best season was 697 YDs and 6 TDs... Roy had over that playing 13 games last season... granted he is our starter but still. The ray of hope stat is his AVG is 15.8 yards per catch, also his experience, he has had one of the best of all times throwing to him. And he has had a Joey clone, Carr, throwing to him.
I can't get excited about this.

Free Agency moves and the Draft
James goes to Arizona! Hmm…if you guys don’t fill that spot with someone of quality, your window may be starting to close! Shut him down Lions!
Next year Washington will probably be the WR powerhouse that Detroit was suppose to be last year, and they will still have a very respectful defense.
Vikings are going to improve a bunch… they will be the team to beat in the NFC North.
Let’s draft Huff! What do you say?
I thought the coach/owner saying “Joey is our guy” in FEBURARY and signing a nobody QB would have taken the media off the ‘QB controversy in Detroit’ story. Beat that dead horse reporters… beat it good!
Final thought, we need to make a big move… we are to quiet… we need to make a big splash in the free agency scene for example. We have the cap room. But it may be too late, I know a way, and it would be a Breese.

Brett Farve the new Detroit Lion
random thought for the day.
....hmmm... instead of retiring, toss him in a den full of young athletic and talented WRs all standing 7ft 3 and can leap over buildings... bet he would play 3 more years after he got the Lions deep into the play offs in 06.

Do we really want Jay Cutler?
I don't know. I'll be the first to admit I do not follow College Football very close. And I didn't know this guy Cutler until the work outs begin and I guess he is putting up all kind of numbers. Now he is all the hype and in a mock draft, people have the Lions taking him.
It is my understanding Matt Leinart did not work out and Vince Young impresses everyone with his lack of knowledge in reading defenses. My money is this guy is a sure NFL FLOP! His style my screw up some college linebacker but mark my words, Urlacher, Lewis and Bruschi will slaughter this kid. I think he will be able to take a lot of hits... the first 4 weeks... after that, he will start to feel it, lets face it guys, where ever he goes... his offensive line will not be above par.
That said, I would rather trade that pick for another vet QB and duplicate last years process... perhaps if we could get Rivers, that wouldn't be a bad pick. Or Kitna he is a solid back up. While Bryan Randall would probably take us to the play offs, and I don’t think he will be starting for the Falcons anytime soon... I think Atlanta wants to keep him.
I miss football.
