New threat, Charles Woodson...

I remember reading that Charles Woodson was looking to sign with the Bucs this season. My first reaction was, 'crap... Detroit has to play them.' Well even worse... we have to face this outstanding corner twice a year for the next 7 years.

The good news is in a match between Woodson at CB vs Williams at WR I do think Roy can win that fight... however we need to be able to put the ball right on target :\

Joey Harrington signs with Miami.

Well, looks like Joey is heading to Miami. I'm reading a lot about how Miami is really stepping up in the off season. I don't see it as much so correct me if I'm wrong. Dante is there now, an upgrade for sure. However he is STILL injured, and not even sure if he will be ready on opening day. Joey is an upgrade as a back up, but he really hasn't brought anything to the Lions over the past 4 years with 3 OUTSTANDING wide outs. He will have Chambers, but when good ol' Chris is doubled, Joey should throw to a different jersey. Ricky, well I won't even start on that mess... regardless both him and the rookie Ronnie both avg 4.4 yards a carry. So they are not weak there. Should be interesting, but all I can really say is...

See you Thanksgiving BIATCHESSSSSSSS!

The NFL hates the Detroit Lions... and I hate the Cowboys

I’m going to make it official now and start the conspiracy theory that the NFL hates the Detroit Lions.
I believed this when I saw our season end last year with only 5 wins, 8 loses to other teams, and 3 losses to the refs. Watching them take points off the board with seconds left in the game. I feel for you Seattle but it happens in Detroit every Sunday.

Here is the newest rant.
It has come to my attention that the game before our Thanksgiving game is away. No big deal. It happens to be the longest travel we will have to make, Arizona, so we should be nice and tired Monday. Prepare Tuesday/Wednesday and beat the snot out of the Dolphins on Thursday.

Out of the last 29 years, 27 of our games before Thanksgiving have been away! WTF?

The Dallas Cowboys, on the other hand, have had a home game 16 of the last 29 years before their annual turkey day game.

Thanks NFL. Oh and we have to play AT Dallas for the 3rd strait year… man I hate the Cowgirls.

Do not draft Vince Young!

Looking through the 'mock drafts' some have Vince Young still on the boards when it's the Lion's turn. I think Young is an amazing athlete and could very well become a great QB. However, I don't want it to happen at Detroit. Of what I have been seeing, Detroit's off-season has been about: Thickening the skin, and FUNDAMENTALS. Has anyone seen Young throw the ball? While effective, not very textbook. I don't think he would fit in our system.

Personally I wouldn't mind grabbing a DB/CB/DE. And when it's all said and done, I really don't care who we draft... I'm happy about our coach changes, but I don't want us to piss it into the wind.

Lions Mini Camp over...

...and we get the same info as everyone gets, every year. Fundamentals. We like what we see. Not looking back, looking forward.

I liked hearing that our new coaches are hard asses. Wondering how the mental toll it will have on the players. So many youngsters that have had a fairly soft coach in the pros, it will be interesting to see what they retain.

Detroit Lions Quarterback Spot Open...

...does anyone else care? Because I do not.

The management have burned some bridges with me. Telling the public that 'we have our man' and 'we like him' 'we have our starter' only to get rid of him just days later. So tomorrow if I read 'Kitna for sure to be our starter' I'll just shrug and turn the page.

We have a couple, slightly above average, QBs. Do we need a star? It sure as hell would be nice to have one... but the answer is no. We have a star WR that needs an average... CONSISTANT QB, and two other WRs that have the ability to step up and be playmakers.

2006 Detroit Lions Schedule

Lets take a look... shall we.

Seahawks. Does anyone expect us to win this game? I don't.
Bears. Revenge will be ours. There is no way there will be a repeat in Chi-town.
Packers. Another victory putting us at 2-1.

Rams. This one will probably be close, but having their old head coach will give us a W.
Vikings. I'm going to have to say we loose this one.
Bills. While they are making a lot of noise, the home field advantage will pull this one through. 4-2

Jets. I like our odds on this one, even though the Jets had a crap ton of injuries last year... we have your defensive coordinator!
Bye Week: FINALLY one that isn't on week 4 (like the last two years in a row)
Falcons. Even though we royally embarrassed these guys in their own back yard a couple years ago... they spanked us last year on turkey day pretty hard... we will lose this one. 5-3

49ers. Win... by 13. And set a Detroit record for Sacks in one game.
Cardinals. Joey has carved these guys up every time he plays them... hopefully the reason we beat their asses so bad wasn't only because of Joey. Win.
Dolphins on Turkey Day: Win... but it's going to be close. Miami isn't stable right now. 8-3

Patriots. Loose. Even though the Pats won't be half the team they have been in the past. They are still the Pats.
Vikings. Win, I think we will split the games with Minnesota.
Packers. Win. I just don't think the Pack will have it together this year. 10-4

Bears. Win. I'm telling you, these guys will be embarrassed by this year.
And finally...
@ Cowboys. This is the game I'm looking forward to the whole season. As much as I don't like the Bears, and hate the Vikings... There is no match up I would rather watch than the Lions vs the Cowboys. Even though this makes THREE years IN A ROW that it's played at Dallas! My guess 7.5 months out. Detroit by 3 in OT. 12-4

This is too optimistic; I am probably off by two games (@Bears, Bills) ;) I can live with a 10-6 record.
